A common mistake is to assume that a good product is all that you need to be successful. Your product can be great but without good marketing no one will know about it. One vital component to good marketing is good copywriting. If you want to make more sales for your product you must use good copywriting to do so.
Copywriting is vital when promoting online business opportunities. I thought the key to success in promoting real home business opportunities was to have a great product. I was wrong because even though I had new products every month there was no increase in my income. I realized that I had to sell these products to make money. At that point I made a decision to focus on writing good sales copy.
One of the best copywriters in the world, Joe Sugerman once said that you can tell if copywriting is good if it gets the person reading the copy to get their money and buy the product or service. Words mean nothing in copywriting if there is no action. Here is how you write copy that causes action.
1. Research
You cannot produce an effective sales letter to promote online business opportunities if you fail to do your research. How do you research? You start off by researching the customer. Identify the things that the customer loses sleep over, the fears of the customer, the constant frustrations, and so on. By doing this you will identify all of the concerns and objections of your target customer.
A great way to make your copy stand out is to research the vocabulary and buying bias of your customer. Take for instance engineers. If you write sales copy that is very analytical and use vocabulary that engineers use, your copy is going to be more effective with them.
Learn about your customer so you can draft a sales letter that is focused on that customer, not a general person. Personalization is the key.
Part of your research should also include looking at the product or service you are offering. You want to identify the features and benefits for any online business opportunities you are promoting. Make a list of them so you can refer back as needed. The features of the product are what the product actually does. The benefits of the product are how these features help the customer. One way to quickly identify the benefits is to go over the features and ask yourself ?So what?? Answering this question will make your copywriting better.
2. Index Cards
Do you remember using index cards when you were in school? They also come in very handy when you are copywriting. Index cards allow you to keep track of all the questions you want your copy to answer in the mind of the customer. Having access to this information makes your sales copy better. You should also write down all the features and benefits on the index cards.
The index cards should also keep track of the words and sentences you want to appear in your copy. This makes it easier to write. The card should communicate the idea and not necessarily be the final draft of your copy.
This one technique makes it dramatically easier to write better copy. I learned this technique from master copywriter Dan Kennedy.
By utilizing these strategies for writing copy for online business opportunities your marketing will be more effective. If you fail to take the time to research you will fail to make the sale to the customer.
